In line with our policy of getting the patient to the right specialist at the first visit Matrix operates an Orthoapedic triage contract in conjunction with Nottingham PCT (is this correct terminology os is it Citycare etc?) which offers a variety of primary care options for Musculoskeletal disorders as well as the usual hospital subspeciality clinics. Where possible patients are seen close to home by an Orthopaedic specialist who is able to decide upon requirement for surgery (eg hip or knee replacement) and make arrangements for surgery without attendance at hospital. Other referral pathways include ICATS knee clinic, pain clinics, podiatry and MSK physiotherapy services. Matrix have also delivered a similar service for Durham PCT.
In association with Easington Health South we are proud to have won the contract to deliver a Community Menorrhagia Clinic for Durham PCT based at Peterlee Health Centre. The service is Consultant-led by experienced Gynaecologists who are able to perform coil-fitting for suitable patients in the community including all the necessary diagnostic workup. As a Pilot this clinic is subject to regular review on the basis of financial viability, patient satisfaction and quality. We are optimistic that this project will provide a credible basis for replication elsewhere and also across the specialities.
