Director/Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon
Gavin attended medical school at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa qualifying in 1983. He carried out his military service between 1984 to 1985 and also worked with NATO in Germany treating military trauma from 1987 to 1988.
His Fellowship and post grad Orthopaedic Royal College of Surgeons training was undertaken on the Edinburgh and Newcastle rotation. He undertook a Specialist Fellowship in Paediatric Orthopaedics at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide and also gained experience of pelvic acetabular trauma at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. He has gained extensive limb reconstruction experience at the Borga Roma Hospital Verona, Kurgan Institute Russia, and the Baltimore Institute of Advanced Orthopaedics USA as well as Biological Joint Reconstruction at Inselspital, Berne, Switzerland.
He is currently a consultant adult/paediatric limb reconstruction and trauma surgeon at Sunderland Royal Hospital.
